After your adventure in Ucluelet head east to Parksville, which offers over 7.5 km of sandy shoreline, a mild year-round climate, a great selection of parks and trails, and an abundance of wildlife. It has pristine watersheds, deep lakes, extensive parkland, forested tracts and challenging trails leading to Mount Arrowsmith's see-forever viewpoints. Visitors can go golfing, hiking or mountain biking, or enjoy the protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Day 1

Day 1 - Vancouver to Ucluelet

Ferry: West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) to Nanaimo (Departure Bay)

Start with a scenic 100-minute sail across the Strait of Georgia to the shores of Vancouver Island and the city of Nanaimo. On arrival in Nanaimo, begin the picturesque drive to Ucluelet.  Once at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, you’ll experience the wild spirit of Canada’s West Coast at its most untamed. The resort combines contemporary comfort and quality service with the ambience of Canada’s western frontier. The beautiful architecture – incorporating rock, water, glass, steel and wood – contrasts with and enhances the surrounding landscape. Enjoy the West Coast cuisine in Fetch restaurant, which uses only the freshest local ingredients.

Day 2

Day 2 - Ucluelet

Spend the day exploring Ucluelet and the surrounding area. If you venture out from the resort, you can explore the Wild Pacific Trail running through the property and along the rugged cliffs and shoreline of Vancouver Island’s West Coast. Divided into three sections – Lighthouse Loop, Big Beach and Brown's Beach – the trail gives hikers unforgettable views of the ocean and outer reefs. The area also boasts unlimited activities like surfing, fishing, swimming, whale-watching, kayaking and beachcombing, year-round walking and hiking, and winter storm-watching.  You can also visit the surfing town of Tofino, stop in the Pacific Rim National Park for a stroll and take unforgettable photos or simply relax at the resort and enjoy all the amenities it has to offer.

Day 3

Day 3 - Ucluelet to Parksville

Staying at: Beach Club Resort (Studio Ocean View )

Departing from Ucluelet, begin the picturesque drive east to Parksville to the beautiful Cathedral Gove, in MacMillan Provincial Park, where trails on either side of the highway lead through stands of giant Douglas fir trees. After a short drive, stop in town of Coombs.  The Old Country Market in Coombs is famous for their international foods, imported gifts, in store baked goods, ice cream and of course the resident goats that live on the roof. 

Once in Parksville check in to your hotel at the Beach Club Resort, which features beautiful West Coast décor, private balconies and spectacular ocean and mountain views. Enjoy the seaside pool and hot tub, the fitness centre, and the Stonewater Spa and its full range of services. You can sit on the famous beachfront patio or inside at the Pacific Prime Restaurant and Lounge, which features fine cuts of meat and locally sourced seafood.

Day 4

Day 4 - Parksville

Staying at: Beach Club Resort

Spend the full day enjoying the resort’s amenities, golden hard-packed sand beaches bordered by gentle Pacific rollers, and the four-season recreational activities in the surrounding area, or head to Rathtrevor Provincial Park to enjoy a picnic along the beautiful stretch of beach. You can also dine in the Pacific Prime Restaurant and Lounge, and enjoy your complimentary lunch entree. Alternatively you can spend the day in Qualicum Beach where you can visit Qualicum Beach Museum and Historical Society, where curator Graham Beard’s ranges of fossils are on show.  Then take the time to explore Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, a picturesque location for a picnic.  Adventure awaits at Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park, where 5-hour spelunking tours are available for thrill-seekers. 

Day 5

Day 5 - Parksville to Vancouver

Ferry: Nanaimo (Departure Bay) to West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay)

After spending the day taking in the resort and exploring Parksville, you can make your way to the ferry terminal for the 100-minute sailing to Horseshoe Bay with BC Ferries.
