After a quick stop in Victoria, you’ll be onward to Courtenay, where you’ll be spending two nights at the elegant Kingfisher Oceanside Resort. This seaside resort has plenty amenities to keep you busy, from their Pacific Mist Spa and Hydropath and yoga classes, to one of their delicious onsite restaurants: Aqua Bistro & Wine Bar and Ocean 7 Restaurant. If you want to adventure in the outdoors around the area, spend some time kayaking on the water, take a day trip to Mount Washington, dive into local lakes, explore the Horne Lake Caves, or hike the extensive trails in Strathcona Provincial Park. Day 1

Day 1 - Vancouver to Victoria

Ferry: Vancouver (Tsawwassen) to Victoria (Swartz Bay)

Staying at:

Depart from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal on a scenic 95-minute BC Ferries voyage across the Strait of Georgia and past the Gulf Islands to Victoria. After arriving at the Swartz Bay ferry terminal on Vancouver Island, enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca as you travel south along the Saanich Peninsula. On your way into town, you can stop in at the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, Victoria Butterfly Gardens or Butchart Gardens (admission not included). After checking in, spend the rest of the day enjoying the hotel’s amenities, perhaps a thrilling 3-hour whale watching tour with Orca Spirit Whale Watching Adventures (admission not included) or explore the British-style cities cobblestone streets and shops.

 

Day 2

Day 2 - Victoria to Courtenay

Make your way north on Vancouver Island towards Courtenay, and enjoy the breathtaking views along the coastline on your scenic 3-hour drive. Take the chance the truly explore the island, and make stops along the way, such as the Kinsol Tressels or perhaps Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, and watch the impressive waterfalls cascade down a rocky gorge. Once you've checked into your hotel in Courtenay, take in the panoramic ocean and mountain views and grab a bite to eat at the onsite Ocean7 restaurant or AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar. 

 

Day 3

Day 3 - Courtenay

Spend the day exploring the area! Enjoy a brisk hike in Strathcona Provincial Park, charter a boat or kayak to Della Falls, or hunt for fossils at the start of the Great Canadian Fossil Trail at the Courtenay & District Museum. Or if you prefer, spend the day at the resort and pamper yourself at the Pacific Mist Spa. Book a massage or pedicure, or rejuvenate with a hydropath circuit and enjoy a swiss shower, mineral massage pool, steam cave, glacial waterfall and more. Finish off your day with a meal at one of the local restaurants. 

Day 4

Day 4 - Courtenay to Vancouver

Ferry: Nanaimo (Departure Bay) to West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay)

Wake up refreshed after a restful night and sample the breakfast menu at Ocean7 Restaurant. Take your time and explore Courtenay’s town centre before departing for Departure Bay and your 100-minute ferry ride back to Vancouver.
