Powell River

Located on the beautiful Malaspina Strait, northwest of Vancouver, Powell River is surrounded by spectacular natural beauty. Once home to the world’s largest pulp and paper mill, its low rainfall and a year-round moderate climate set the stage for some of the best year-round outdoor recreation options in Canada. You can go charter fishing, kayaking, scuba diving and canoeing on the ocean in any season. And on land, there’s hiking and mountain biking, along with walking and beachcombing. There’s an 18-hole championship golf course, the Myrtle Point Golf Course designed by Les Furber, a 9-hole course at Dune’s, and a Putters Mini Golf. In town, you can visit art galleries and historic sites, including Townsite, designated a National Historic District in 1995. You can also dine in one of many restaurants, or enjoy a spa treatment in one of many spas in the area.
